The Checklist – Room-by-Room & General Tips

1. Overall Prep (Do These First – Foundation for Everything)

  • - Declutter ruthlessly: Remove personal items (photos, collections), excess furniture, and anything not essential. Aim for 50% less in closets/counters—makes rooms feel bigger.

  • - Deep clean top-to-bottom: Scrub floors, windows, baseboards, appliances. Fresh scent (subtle—no strong candles during showings).

  • - Depersonalize & neutralize: Pack bold colors/art if needed; stick to soft neutrals (blues, beiges, whites) that appeal broadly in RGV heat.

  • - Maximize natural light: Open all blinds/curtains during day. Replace burnt bulbs with warm LEDs.

  • - Cabinets: Organize (no clutter visible); consider removing some doors for open shelving if modern.

  • - Backsplash & sink: Shine them—buyers look here!

  • - Add subtle staging: Fresh towels, herb plant in pot.

4. Bathrooms

  • - Sparkle: Clean grout, mirrors, fixtures—replace old caulk if needed.

  • - Declutter: Remove all personal products; use nice soap dispenser + rolled towels.

  • - Shower curtain: Clean/new neutral.
